​Aidan holds a degree in Minerals Engineering and Extractive Metallurgy (honours) from Curtin University, and is a fellow and chartered professional of the AusIMM. His contributions to the industry were recognised with the 2017 CEEC medal and the 2019 AusIMM professional excellence award. Aidan is the AusIMM's 2025 G D Delprat Distinguished Lecturer and a previous chair of the AusIMM Metallurgical Society, the Global Mining Guidelines (GMG) Mineral Processing Steering Committee and the GMG Comminution Group.

Aidans metallurgical expertise includes crushing, grinding, gravity concentration, gold recovery, metallurgical accounting, metallurgical plant design and optimisation. He is also committed to providing professional development, training and mentoring for young professionals, demonstrated by his ongoing involvement with the Metcelerate program as the comminution course leader.
